Köping 3D print protective visors to protect frontline staff in their local community

Donating equipment and 3D printing visors went a long way to helping hospitals deal with demands.

As with many hospitals globally, hospitals located in the Köping area faced extremely high demand and struggled to cope with the pressure they found themselves under during the COVID-19 pandemic.

GKN Automotive’s Köping team wanted to do all they could to support their hospitals, and chose to donate PPE to Region Västmanland, a hospital located near to the Köping facility. The equipment donated included safety glasses and gloves. The donated PPE went a long way to the hospital being able to deal with their demand. The employees from the hospital were extremely grateful for the help of GKN Automotive.

As well as donating the much-needed PPE equipment, employees from GKN Automotive’s Köping plant came up with the innovative idea of using 3D printers from their facility, to print visors that were again much needed by the hospitals. The Köping team voluntarily gave up their time to print and deliver the visors, receiving great praise from the hospital and their local community for their actions and the support they showed.
